COLUMBUS - Ohio State University said the son-in-law of university President Gordon Gee has died.

Dr. Allan Moore, 31, was hurt July 12 when a motor scooter he and his wife were riding collided with a sport utility vehicle in suburban Philadelphia.

The Danville, Va.-native had been in a coma since the crash.

An Ohio State statement said he died at 4 p.m. yesterday at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Gee's daughter, Dr. Rebekah Gee, 32, suffered a broken leg and head injuries in the crash. She was moved to Ohio State's medical center for rehabilitation Monday, but she and her father returned to Pennsylvania on Wednesday when Dr. Moore's condition worsened.

Ohio State said Mr. Gee had called Dr. Moore the "son he never had."
