Brush pickup scheduled in May

4/27/2006

Lake Township residents who want to clean up their yards can take advantage of the annual spring brush pickup set to begin this year in mid-May.

From May 15 through May 18, brush will be picked up in the unincorporated areas of Lake Township east of I-280.

Residents living west of I-280 will have their brush picked up May 22 through May 25.

Brush needs to be in place by 7:30 a.m. on the first day the areas are scheduled for pickup. The pickup is for chippable brush only. Brush should be stacked as neatly as possible at the road edge with butt ends of all branches facing in the same direction toward the road.

Any brush piles deemed unchippable will be documented by the Lake Township Road Department, and a township trustee will determine how to dispose of the brush pile within 24 hours.

Garbage, yard waste, and objects other than brush and limbs will not be picked up.

Free woodchips are available at the road department, 3800 Ayers Rd. in Millbury.

Call 419-836-1143 for available pickup times.

Columbus-based developers who proposed a condominium development in Pemberville withdrew their application for a zoning change because they were not awarded a grant to fund the project, Pemberville Clerk-Treasurer Sue Frizzel said.

Developers from The Woda Group LLC said they wanted to build 24 housing units for seniors age 55 and older to rent on the south side of Perry Street, which is dead end, in what was to be called Marigold Park.

But before Pemberville Village Council could consider rezoning 3.12 acres of undeveloped farm land to R-3 multifamily residential zoning, developers requested that the zoning change be pulled from the table.

Early last month, council passed a resolution supporting the proposed Marigold Park development by a 4-2 vote.

Councilmen Eric Campbell and Mark Mullholand were opposed.
