Brittany Futrell, an Ohio State University senior from Toledo, received a first place in her category at OSU's annual Denman Undergraduate Research Forum, Her research was titled "Antioch: Communicating My Directorial Vision."

More than 350 students participated in eleven research categories in this year's event.

First prizes are valued at up to $700.

A Springfield Township woman's involvement with scrapbooking and stamping has led her to a successful career with a direct-sales company and to recognition as one of the company's 96 top salespersons across the United States and Canada in 2006.

Christine Szczechowski, an independent sales consultant for Close to My Heart, sells the company's scrapbooking and stamping items and products primarily at home gatherings.

As a reward for her sales effort, personal and as part of her team, she received an all-expenses paid seven-day Alaskan cruise aboard a luxury liner from May 20 to May 27.

She and her guest joined other sales consultants aboard a Norwegian Cruise Line ship that took them along Alaska's Inside Passage and to ports such as Juneau, Glacier Bay, and Victoria, British Columbia.

Kristine Blair, English department chairperson at Bowling Green State University, has won the Conference on College Composition and Communication 2007 Technology Innovator Award.

A specialist in digital rhetoric and gender and technology, she was cited for her strong support for the use of computer technology in composition studies.

She is editor of the journal Computers and Composition Online and is helping to develop a computer camp for girls to be held Aug. 8 to 11 at BGSU.
