HONORS FOR A FALLEN ROSSFORD HERO

8/15/2007

State Sen. Randy Gardner, right, had an opportunity to visit with friends and relatives of Marine Sgt. David Christoff, who was killed in Iraq on May 22, 2006, during the dedication of a new war memorial in Rossford. The family wore T-shirts bearing a likeness of the Marine sergeant from Rossford and brought a large photograph of him to the ceremony. They included, from left, Michael Ferguson, Pam Ferguson, Bethann Christoff, and Bruce Ferguson. Sergeant Christoff was Bethann Christoff s nephew. At the event, a steel sculpture of a bald eagle by artist Mike Leganic was dedicated as part of the permanent memorial. Mr. Leganic lives in Las Vegas but spends his summer in his hometown of Rossford.
