Tonya Shiffler, a senior from Toledo, plans to pursue a degree in pharmacology at the University of Toledo. She enjoys math and science and has a 3.9 grade-point average.

Recognized as Student of the Month by the Huntington Bank and The Exchange Club of Greater Maumee Bay, Tonya is a two-year member of the National Honor Society and has been on the principal's list for four years.

The historian for the class of 2008, Tonya is also a tutor and mentor, and a member of the Indian 100 Leadership Team and the softball team. She is an active participant in the youth group at St. Mark Lutheran Church.

Beth Thompson, a guidance counselor at the school, said Tonya serves as her student assistant.

"She is a very reliable, respectful, and artistically talented young lady," Ms. Thompson said. "I can always depend on Tonya to get the job done correctly and on time."

Tonya is the daughter of Ray and Betty Shiffler.
