A local Boy Scout troop and the American Legion of Woodville will host a flag disposal ceremony tomorrow at noon at the gazebo at the corner of South Cherry and Erie streets in Woodville. The event is meant to educate the public about the proper ways to dispose of flags.

Boy Scout Troop 329, composed of 13 scouts, and the American Legion Post 455 will conduct the event. Each troop is sponsored by an organization. The American Legion is sponsor of Woodville's Boy Scout troop.

Don Rozick, the scoutmaster for the troop, said he sees the necessity of the event.

"I run into a lot of people that really don't have an idea of how to properly dispose of a flag , but they don't know what to do with it," said Mr. Rozick. "July 4 has a lot of patriotic connotations - it's to promote patriotism, proper respect for the flag, and an opportunity for the public to participate in this ritual."

Flags can be dropped off in the collection box at the Fremont Federal Credit Union office, Huntington Bank office on Main Street, the Pills N' Packages pharmacy, and the Woodville Public Library. Flags also can be taken to the ceremony.
