Oregon schools to redesign of district's Web site

11/12/2008

The Oregon School District is planning to redesign its Web site after 220 people filled out online surveys detailing the kind of information they would like to find on the site.

Parents and teachers who responded to the surveys said they were looking for details about events and athletic activities at the school, and wanted to have access to district news, contact information for members of staff, and information about homework assignments.

In response to the survey results, board member Jeff Ziviski said the district plans to make improvements to the site's online calendar and is considering giving each teacher a page where he or she can post weekly lesson plans, homework assignments, and information for parents.

The district also plans to create a board of education page on which board agendas, board minutes, and board meeting dates and locations will be available along with recordings of meetings.

In addition, the athletic department may get its own page detailing athletic news, schedules, scores, and rosters.

The district's Web site is oregon.k12.oh.us/.
