12/3/2008

Aspiring filmmakers take note.

The Oregon Community and Family Coalition is sponsoring a contest for children in grades 9 through 12 to produce a commercial addressing youth substance abuse.

Suggested themes include underage drinking, binge drinking, marijuana or abuse of prescription drugs.

The winning entry will be professionally reproduced and edited to fit a 30-second commercial slot. It will air 150 times on Buckeye CableSystem.

Contestants can work in teams consisting of one executive producer and up to four contributors. Commercials can include any number of actors, but only the five-person Video Team will be eligible for prizes. The executive producer must attend school or reside in Oregon.

Judges will be looking at visual and auditory impact, creativity, and effective presentation.

Mailed entries should be submitted on DVD. E-mailed entries should not exceed 5MB and should be sent as either a .MOV (quick time), .AVI, or .WMV file. All videos should not exceed one minute in length.

Entries should be dropped off or mailed to: OCFC, Attn: PSA Contest, 2460 Navarre Ave., Suite 1, Oregon, Ohio 43616.

E-mail entries should be sent to tana@ocfcohio.org.
