Woodmore hires grad as assistant treasurer

The Woodmore Local School Board hired a graduate to eventually be the district s certified treasurer.

Kevin Slates of Elmore was hired last week as Woodmore s assistant treasurer, starting May 4 at a salary of $40,000 a year. He is expected to be hired as treasurer in August after completing state requirements.

Mr. Slates is replacing Ann Arnold, who left to become treasurer of Benton-Carroll-Salem Schools in Oak Harbor. He temporarily will work under the direction of interim treasurer Pamela Barber.

Luncheon to feature update on schools

The 11th annual luncheon to update Northwood senior citizens about what Northwood Local School District students and teachers are doing will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 7.

Entertainment also will be provided at the free event at Lark Elementary, 331 Andrus Road. City, county, state, and school board officials are expected to attend. Reservations: 419-691-3888.

Mayor to listen to residents concerns

Northwood residents can voice their concerns and offer suggestions to Mayor Mark Stoner from 3:30-5 p.m. Tuesday at Central Park, 6010 Wales Road.

Residents will meet individually with Mr. Stoner on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents who want a specific meeting time should call 419-693-9320.

Owens landscape club to sell plants tomorrow

Owens Community College s landscape club is holding its annual spring plant sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow on the Perrysburg Township campus.

The Landscape and Turfgrass Crew Club s sale will be held next to the greenhouse, which is near the entrance to Owens Math/Science Center. The sale will feature shrubs, trees, perennials, planters, hanging baskets, and patio water gardens.

Sale proceeds will help support the landscape club s participation in a national competition.

ROSSFORD

Award of Distinction nominations sought

Rossford Exempted Village School District is accepting nominations for its Award of Distinction program.

Candidates must have graduated from Rossford High School before 1985 and made significant contributions to society.

Nomination forms are available at the board of education office, each school, Rossford Public Library, and Rossford Community Recreation Center.

Gabrielle Davis and Edward Tucholski were last year s honorees.

Bowling tournament to help fight child abuse

The University of Toledo main campus electricians are sponsoring a non-sanctioned singles bowling tournament at 1 p.m. Saturday at Interstate Lanes, 819 Lime City Rd., Rossford, to raise funds for child abuse prevention.

Cost is $10 per person and trophies will be awarded for the high scorers in the male, female, boys,and girls categories. Proceeds will go to YELL & TELL, a nonprofit organization working to help prevent child abuse.
