East Toledo

•The East Toledo Senior Activities Center will be offering free adult CPR and First Aid Certification at the Navarre Park Shelterhouse, 1001 White St., from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 6. Oregon

•Christ Dunberger American Legion Post #537 and Auxiliary, 4925 Pickle Rd., Oregon, will meet at 7:30 p.m. May 21. Election and installation of auxiliary officers and initiation of new members. Annual poppy sale May 22 and 29 at local sites.

Rossford

•Summer men's basketball league: The Rossford Community Recreation Center, 400 Dixie Hwy., is now accepting registrations for the league. This season will consist of eight regular season games followed by a single elimination playoff tournament. League fees are a $250 team registration free. Teams are also responsible for $25 per game for officials' fees. Registration deadline is May 22. There will be a mandatory team captain-manager's meeting at 7 p.m. on May 26 in the center. Regular season is scheduled to run from June 7 to Aug. 2 (no games July 5th), with playoffs to follow. Men's 18 and over league will be played on Sundays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. (subject to change based on number of teams). For information: 419-666-2905.

Areawide

•The next meeting of the Roger Bresnahan Mud Hens Chapter of the Society for American Baseball Research will be May 30 at Fifth Third Field in downtown Toledo. •Memorial Day singles jamboree: Glass City Singles at Gladieux Meadows, 4480 Heatherdowns Blvd., 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. May 24. Cost is $10. More than 600 singles from all over the area come together in one night. Details: ToledoSingles.Com.

•Maumee River bridges: Local historian Fred Folger will talk about the bridges at the Franciscan Center on the Lourdes College Campus, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania, at 10 a.m. on May 22. His talk is part of the Lifelong Learning Roadrunner series. After his talk, people will carpool to the docks to board the Sandpiper for a bridge tour at noon. •Poker Run benefit for Alexandra Courville begins May 30 at Homecoming Park, 7807 Angola Rd. in Holland. The first cards will be drawn between 10 and 11:15 a.m. Stops include Tony Packo's in Toledo, Rayz Cafe in Genoa, and Skeeter's in Whitehouse, returning to Homecoming Park. The cost is $15 per person, $20 per couple, with $5 for each extra hand. The lunch starts at 2 p.m. and costs $8 for adults, and $5 per child. Alexandra is a 14-year-old who received a heart transplant last winter. The benefit will help with medical costs.

•Owens Community College will offer area residents "Building Confidence with ACT Prep," from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays through June 8 at the college's Workforce and Community Services Building on Tracy Road. During each of the four sessions, students will be tutored in all five sections of the ACT test - English, math, reading, science reasoning, and writing. Students will learn traditional testing strategies such as how to take a timed test and how to find the elusive answer to a difficult question. Events

•Art on Adams, an event featuring local artists from the MLC Studios, 7-9 p.m.at The Ottawa Tavern, 1815 Adams St. downtown. The event will be held every second Thursday of the month to give local artists and art lovers an opportunity to meet. •The World Exchange, a nonprofit educational organization, will host two groups of young students, ages 14-18, from France ready to spend part of their summer vacation in America. They will be here July 13 to Aug. 1 and Aug. 1-20. Each student comes with ample pocket money, full insurance and are fairly fluent in English, so host families do not need to know French. Host families will need to provide a bed, daily meals, and time to experience as much of American life as possible. Program directors plan two group activities.
