East Toledo

East Toledo Senior Activities Center will be offering free adult CPR and first aid certification at the Navarre Park Shelterhouse, 1001 White St., from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 6. Elmore

2nd Annual Spina Bifida Scramble to Benefit Spina Bifida Association of Northwest Ohio is scheduled with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. July 11 at Sugarcreek Golf Course, 950 West Elmore Eastern Rd. A $75 donation to the Spina Bifida Association covers 18 holes of scramble golf, a golf cart, goodie bag, and a steak dinner. The Andersons, Inc. will host its fourth Electronics Recycling and Document Destruction event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 30 at the Woodville Mall store. Equipment being accepted includes: computers, monitors, terminals, laptops, hard drives, keyboards, mice, printers, modems, telephone equipment, cables, cell phones, fax machines, VCRs, DVD players, speakers, radios, electronic games, cameras, and typewriters. Televisions, microwaves, appliances, and air conditioners will not be accepted.

Oak Harbor

Astronomy

The Toledo Astronomical Association in cooperation with the Olander and Park Systems will conduct public viewing at Sylvan Prairie (off Brint just west of Centennial) from 9-11:30 p.m. May 29, weather permitting. Saturn will be the principal object of interest. The relative position of Earth and Saturn are such that Saturn s rings have largely disappeared. The rings will appear as a black line across the face of the planet and a brighter line on either side of the planet. This event occurs approximately every 13 years.
