The Little Sisters Day at the Toledo Mud Hens will be Sept. 3. Two hundred guests of the Little Sisters of the Poor, Oregon, will enjoy a cookout, fellowship with residents of the Sacred Heart Home, and baseball. The Little Sisters will throw out the first pitch. There will also be a $500 grand-prize raffle. Donations are $30 for adults and $15 for children under 12. •Stilettos, wedges, pumps, and platforms will be in action at the inaugural High Heel Walk-Run charity event Aug. 22 from 8 a.m. to noon at Maumee Bay State Park in Oregon. The Toledo Area Human Resourse Association is hosting this event. Proceeds go to Heroes In Action, an outreach program that sends care packages to troops overseas, and the SHRM Foundation, a not-for-profit foundation that provides academic and HR certification scholarships. Events include a 100-yard dash and a 1-mile walk. T-shirts for registered participants. Vendors, and family activities. Cost: $27 per runner and $17 per walker.

•Friendship Park Community Center, 2930 131st St., will host a Family Night from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 20 with a free movie, Marley and Me, about a mischievous Golden Lab puppy who is adopted by a young couple. The $1 donation includes popcorn and beverage.

•Golden Alumni Society of the University of Toledo has charted the Sandpiper for a cruise at 7 p.m. Aug. 19. Local historian Fred Folger will narrate historical sites along the river. ••34th annual Miss Northwestern Ohio Scholarship Pageant, a preliminary to Miss Ohio and Miss America scholarship pageants, will be Nov. 14 in the Defiance Community Auditorium. The pageant committee is seeking contestants. Young women are eligible if they are between the ages of 17 and 24, are single and have never been married or pregnant, and live, work, or go to school in Ohio. The areas of competition are talent, interview, swimsuit, and evening wear. There are no entry fees. The program is affiliated with the Children's Miracle Network, and each contestant will be asked to obtain sponsors to contribute a total of $100 to the Children's Miracle Network.
