A treasure hunt that will sweep a 10-mile radius from Port Clinton is planned as a fund-raiser for wellness programs at Port Clinton City Schools.

The Oct. 9 event will raise money to pay for activities such as wellness presentations to kindergarten classes, second-grade relays, healthy snack night at Bataan Memorial Elementary School, a middle school Wii tournament, and the Jefferson Dance Dance Revolution Fun Night.

The Port Clinton City School District and the Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring the treasure hunt, which is similar to a scavenger hunt. Organizers say participants will stop at various businesses within a 10-mile radius of the city.

Teams will meet at 5:45 p.m. Oct. 9 at Minderman Marine to receive instructions and their first clue. Participants must register and be 21 and up.

The cost for a team of six is $75 and only 30 teams will be allowed. Food, soft drinks, and prizes will be provided.

Registration forms are available at all Port Clinton school buildings, the chamber of commerce, and at www.pccsd.net.
