Fund-raising begins for Rossford Pridewalk

To help maintain its about $4.5 million Glenwood Athletic Complex, Rossford Exempted Village Schools this week is kicking off a fund-raising campaign selling Rossford Pridewalk bricks to individuals and businesses.

The Pridewalk will start outside of the entrance for the soccer and track venue. Prices are $100 for a 4-inch-by-8-inch brick and $300 for a 8-inch-by-8-inch brick.

The athletic complex's opening will be celebrated with a ribbon cutting for the soccer and track venue at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The free event will feature guest speakers, games, and a picnic dinner.

"We're very excited," Rossford Superintendent Susan Lang said. "It's all new."

The tennis teams already play on six maroon and grey courts. The baseball and softball teams will have four diamonds, and track and field teams will use the complex in the spring.

The only part of the complex that will not be ready for this school year is the soccer field, which is expected to be seeded with grass next year.

Tim Rupp, assistant athletic director and facilities manager, told board members last week of the progress made on fund-raising for the athletic complex.

Fund-raising bricks will be placed near the baseball and softball fields once the Rossford Pridewalk area is full, he said.

Other possibilities for raising money include selling advertising signs for dugouts and on the fence surrounding the all-weather track, as well as for scoreboards in the complex, Mr. Rupp said.

The University of Toledo Health Science Campus, formerly the Medical College of Ohio, has agreed to be a sponsor, he said.

Plus, Rossford could host a track invitational, soccer tournament, and softball leagues, Mr. Rupp said.
