Allen Township, Genoa schools, Woodville to get recycling funds

Allen Township, Genoa Area Local School District, and Woodville are among a dozen organizations to receive funding to start recycling programs or buy products made from recycled materials from the Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca Joint Waste Management District.

Allen Township will receive $7,348 to buy fencing, Genoa Area Local School District will get $8,288 for picnic tables, and Woodville has been awarded $1,661 for signs.

Any entity applying for a waste management district grant must have a recycling program.

Awards are of no more than $10,000 and the organizations must match at least 20 percent of the total project's cost.

A meeting explaining how to apply for funding will be at 10 a.m. June 2 at the district's main office, 1875 East State St., Fremont.
