The exterior of the Pember-Furry House, a historic residence on Front Street, looks hauntingly gloomy for its tour during 'Sneeek Peeek at Trick or Treat.'

PEMBERVILLE -- It's a twist on the Christmas lights, miniature Santas, and inflatable reindeer that people admire in front yards as part of holiday tours.
Instead, the upcoming Pemberville house tour is more about mad scientists, haunted houses, and creepy scarecrows.
The Halloween-themed porch tour will take place as part of the village's "A Sneeek Peeek at Trick or Treat."
The event -- which features people dressed in costumes at five homes along Front Street -- runs from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 8.
"It's all interactive," organizer Barb Klee of Pemberville said.
Last year, about 100 children attended the pre-Halloween festivities, Mrs. Klee said.
This year's family event includes a children's costume contest and parade through downtown Pemberville. Both will start at 5:30 p.m. in front of the village fire department at 104 East Front St. There also will be a balloon artist, jugglers on unicorns, and food.
The cost is $5 for children older than 3 and an accompanying parent can get in free. Proceeds will go to the Pemberville Freedom Area Historical Society.
