Toledo
The Maritime Academy of Toledo’s “Welcoming Reception” celebrating the arrival of USS De Wert, HMCS Ville de Quebec, USS Hurricane, USCG Mobile Bay, and the Flagship Niagara, ships that are a part of Navy Week scheduled to arrive between 3-5 p.m. Reception will be held at the Maritime Academy of Toledo, 803 Water St., 2-6 p.m. Thursday. Enjoy the arrival of the ships from one of four balconies at the school overlooking the Maumee River and pier. A Niagara Gun Salute will take place at 3 p.m. and the Navy Band will perform. The College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University will hold open auditions for the University Choral Society’s 2012-2013 season at the College of Musical Arts, 1031 Moore Musical Arts Center. Highlights of the season will included Handel’s Messiah and Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. Owens College Community Band to begin their 2012-2013 music season with rehearsals will be at Owens Community College’s Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Room 111, 30335 Oregon Rd., 3:30-5 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday, except when the college is closed for vacations.
