Elmore Thanksgiving dinner scheduled

10/30/2012
BLADE STAFF

The Elmore Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day in the Woodmore High School cafeteria, 633 Fremont St.

Everyone is welcome. The dinner is sponsored by local churches, civic organizations, businesses, school groups, and private citizens in the Elmore area. Organizers expect more than 250 meals to be served.

The dinner originated as a way to help financially pressed families, but evolved into a community event when the planning group learned that many residents simply wanted to get together to celebrate the holiday with a fine dinner and grateful heart.

The menu includes turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green beans, rolls, cranberry sauce, homemade pumpkin pie, desserts, and beverages. Those who are able to are asked to bring a canned good for the local food pantries or a new, packaged toy for Toys for Tots. To donate or volunteer, contact Robin Hindall at teaministries@yahoo.com.
