Future pay raises for Rossford councilmen are on hold for the time being.

Council last week rescinded an ordinance approved Jan. 14 to increase the salaries of the seven councilmen and instead will give the issue additional review in committee.

The ordinance, which has been under discussion since last year, would allow council members to continue accruing credits in the state retirement system.

Council President Larry Oberdorf asked council to reconsider the ordinance during the Jan. 28 meeting, and the board, in a 6-0 vote, agreed to table the pay raise action.

Council members are paid $250 a month, and the president earns an additional $25 stipend. The ordinance would have increased pay to $600 a month.
