Toledo named a top site for high-growth firms

7/13/2001

Toledo ranks among the top metropolitan areas of its size in high-growth companies, according to the National Commission on Entrepreneurship.

The organization said it found that the bulk of high-growth companies in the last decade were not in Silicon Valley but in cities like Toledo. It defined high-growth firms as those that had a 15 percent increase in staffing each year for five years or 100 percent growth over five years.

Its study, released yesterday using U.S. Census Bureau information, ranked Toledo as fourth in such high-growth firms for metro areas of 750,000 to 1 million people, behind Austin, Texas; Las Vegas; and Nashville.
