FREMONT Poor sales and a troubled automotive industry
will result in the closing next year of a parts plant in this
Sandusky County city, displacing 270 workers, the owner said
yesterday.
TRW Automotive s Kelsey-Hayes subsidiary told workers
at its Kingsway factory that it plans to consolidate its brake
rotor production at other plants in North and South America,
and shutter the local factory by December, 2006.
An executive said the plant does not have enough business
to keep operating, and pricing and competitive pressures have
compounded the situation.
The $12 billion company said it would assist workers in fi nding
new employment. A United Steelworkers of America leader
at the Fremont factory declined comment last night.
