Factory orders rebound in northwest Ohio

Northwest Ohio's manufacturing activity remained strong in June after new orders rebounded, according to a local monthly index.

The local index had a reading of 57.3 percent last month, up from 52.3 percent in May and ahead of the national June rate of 53.8 percent, according to Toledo's Regional Growth Partnership. A reading higher than 50 percent indicates growth.

New orders were at 58.4 percent in June, up from 47.9 percent in May. Among other index components, employment was at 56.7 percent in June and production was at 59.9 percent.
