Sky says profit $51M in quarter

BOWLING GREEN - Sky Financial Group Inc. yesterday reported third-quarter profit of $51 million, or 47 cents a share, up 11 percent from the $46.1 million, or 43 cents a share, for the same period last year.

The bank holding company also reported net interest income of $130.4 million, up from $122.5 million a year ago, and assets of $15.2 billion, up from $14.5 billion a year earlier.

DEFIANCE - Rurban Financial Corp., a holding company for State Bank and Trust and other firms, yesterday reported third-quarter profit of $492,000, or 11 cents a share, down 30 percent from $699,000, or 15 cents a share, for the same quarter a year ago. The decrease is due largely to costs associated with Rurban's expansion plans.

The company said it had net interest income of $3 million, down from $3.2 million a year ago, and assets of $445 million, up from $423 million a year earlier.

Rurban declared a dividend of 5 cents a share, payable Nov. 18 to shareholders of record on Nov. 4.
