SANDUSKY - Cedar Fair LP, owner of Cedar Point in Sandusky and 11 other amusement parks or water parks, said this week it will spend $58 million on improvements for 2006, including a new world-class roller coaster at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Mo., and new thrill rides at Cedar Point and Valleyfair park near Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Other capital expenditures will include the first sit-down restaurant at the Michigan's Adventure park near Muskegon.

The company said average per-person spending at its parks rose 2 percent and combined attendance at all of its parks increased 1 percent for the third quarter of the year. Out-of-park revenues, including resort hotels, rose 10 percent.

Through the first nine months this year, the company said, it had a 1 percent decline in attendance, a 3 percent increase in per-person spending at the parks, and a 14 percent jump in out-of-park revenues.
