$100,000 grant OK d for Defiance Powertrain

A $100,000 state grant was approved yesterday for the purchase of equipment for added production at the General Motors Corp. s Defi ance Powertrain Plant.

The grant, approved by the Ohio Controlling Board along with six other projects, is to help the factory increase its ironengine block capacity. Work is being moved from a GM plant in Saginaw, Mich., and is to retain 2,100 jobs in Defiance, the state

said. Cost of the project is $110 million.
