North Baltimore firm gains state tax credit

2/28/2006

COLUMBUS - A company in North Baltimore that makes expansion joints for roads and bridges was awarded a 55 percent seven-year tax credit yesterday to expand its operations.

D.S. Brown Co. will use the incentive from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority, valued at $212,600, to retain 140 jobs and create 52 jobs by 2008, paying about $15 an hour.

The Wood County company has proposed spending $2.7 million for equipment and construction of a 5,000-square-foot building for making fabricated steel bridge expansion joints. It has received local tax abatements as well.
