Commercial spending at $1.9B in Lucas County

Lucas County is seventh in a ranking of places in the Great Lakes region with the highest planned spending on industrial expansion and improvement projects.

The list, compiled by the market intelligence service Industrial Info Resources of Sugar Land, Texas, said firms plan to spend $1.9 billion on such projects in

the county. Fayette County, Illinois, ranked first and two other Ohio counties, Meigs (2nd) and Pike (10th), made the top 10, said Mike Bergan, an Industrial Info spokesman.

There are 22 projects planned locally at General Motors Corp. s Powertrain Plant in Toledo as well as oil refineries operated by BP PLC in Oregon and Sunoco Inc., Toledo. The Great Lakes region includes Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Kentucky.
