Tower Automotive to close Upper Sandusky plant

9/19/2006

NOVI, Mich. Tower Automotive Inc., a bankrupt supplier of automobile frames primarily to Ford Motor Co., will close its Upper Sandusky, Ohio, plant, eliminating 135 jobs, the company said yesterday in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Production will be moved to other North American factories by early 2007, the filing said.

In May, the company said it would consolidate most of the production from its Bluffton plant into other Tower facilities in North America, eliminating all but 15 of the site s 230 hourly and 39 salaried positions.
