DETROIT - Johnson Controls Inc., the world's largest maker of automotive seats, said yesterday it has agreed to acquire an interior-components plant in Saline, Mich., from Ford Motor Co.

The instrument-panel factory is one of 17 returned to Ford by former subsidiary Visteon Corp. in 2005. Terms of the sale to Johnson Controls weren't disclosed.

Ford is left with two former Visteon operations, in Monroe and Utica, Mich., to sell or close.

Ford took back the plants and six other facilities to keep the parts maker out of bankruptcy and ensure supplies of auto parts.
