Ohio gets $4.6M grant to help 690 workers losing jobs

WAVERLY, Ohio — The U.S. Department of Labor says it’s providing a grant worth nearly $4.6 million to help about 690 workers affected by the closure of a cabinet manufacturer in southern Ohio.

The department says layoffs at two Masco Retail Cabinet Group facilities in Pike County began more than a year ago, but most of the workers are being laid off this month. The facilities are about 60 miles south of Columbus in Waverly and Seal Township.

The grant money is being awarded to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services to provide training and support services for affected Masco employees as they pursue new jobs.

Masco was formerly known as Mill’s Pride.
