Ohio, Michigan income growth outpaces nation

Personal income growth in Ohio and Michigan was faster than nationwide in the first three months of the year, according to a report released Wednesday.

The growth rate was 1.9 percent in Ohio and 2 percent in Michigan in the first quarter, compared with 1.8 percent across the country, shows a study by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The change was the highest in more than a year.

Personal income growth increased in all states, from 0.7 percent in Iowa to 6.9 percent in North Dakota, the study found. The rate in gain in personal income nationwide was 0.8 percent in the fourth quarter of last year. It was 0.5 percent in Michigan and 0.7 percent in Ohio.
