Michigan jobless rate rose to 10.5% last month

Michigan’s unemployment rate last month climbed to 10.5 percent, up from 10.3 percent the month before, state officials said.

Total unemployment rose by 8,000 and employment decreased by 26,000, according to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget.

A year earlier, the state’s jobless rate was 12.6 percent. Last month, the national unemployment rate was 9.2 percent.
