Bankruptcy filings decline in local court

Filings in U.S. bankruptcy court in Toledo declined 7 percent, to 539 cases, in August from the same month a year earlier.

The month was the 23rd in the last 24 that filings declined year-over-year.

For the first eight months of 2012, a total of 4,051 cases were filed, 15 percent fewer than during the same period last year.
