Area firms plan to hold hir­ing steady, study says

Toledo-area em­ploy­ers ex­pect to hire at a steady pace dur­ing the fi­nal three months of the year, ac­cord­ing to the Man­power Em­ploy­ment Out­look Sur­vey.

About 16 per­cent of com­pa­nies in­ter­viewed plan to hire dur­ing the fourth quar­ter, and 6 per­cent plan to re­duce staff. About three quar­ters ex­pect to main­tain cur­rent work-force lev­els and 2 per­cent said they weren’t sure.

The num­bers are sim­i­lar to what they were a year ago.

In Ohio as a whole, 15 per­cent of com­pa­nies plan to hire and 8 per­cent plan to cut staff, Man­power said.

In Mich­i­gan, 17 per­cent of firms said they planned to hire and 8 per­cent pre­dicted they would de­crease staff lev­els.
