Ohio's unemployment rate dropped to 7 percent in September after being stuck at 7.2 percent for three straight months.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services said Friday there were 406,000 unemployed workers in the state last month, compared to 413,000 in August.

Despite the drop in unemployed workers, the state also said non-farm employment fell slightly in September to 5.19 million from a revised August number of 5.18 million.

Ohio remains below the national unemployment rate, which was 7.8 percent in September.
