Area foreclosures found 35% lower in year, 43% decrease in Lucas County

Foreclosure-related activity fell in the Toledo area by almost 35 percent in October compared with last year, according to a report released Wednesday.

California-based Realty Trac said a total of 566 Toledo-area homes were in some stage of the foreclosure process in October. That’s down from 867 in October, 2011, and off 25 percent from September, Realty Trac said.

The biggest drop from last year was in Lucas County, where foreclosure activity fell 43 percent to 430 housing units. Activity also fell in Ottawa County. The report said foreclosure activity was up 25 percent from last year in Fulton and Wood counties.

Statewide, activity was up 24 percent from last year, Realty Trac said.
