SANDUSKY — Economic development officials in Erie County said Friday a grant-funded road improvement project will help keep a Sandusky company from moving out of the area.

Officials with the Erie County Economic Development Corporation said Firelands Vending had been working to expand into food preparation for several years, but dust regulations related to a gravel road outside its facility proved a significant hurdle.

The Erie County Economic Development Corporation helped secure an $80,000 Ohio Department of Transportation grant, and the city approved contributing $158,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding to the project. Firelands Vending has 48 employees in Sandusky.
