The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has fined Bakery Feeds, a North Baltimore agribusiness, $44,000 for two safety violations that it found during a September inspection.

OSHA investigators said the company failed to take forklifts in need of repair out of service until they could be made safe. The company was also cited for a repeat violation of not installing suitable platform railings.

Bakery Feeds, which produces an animal feed additive from inedible bakery waste, is a subsidiary of Kentucky-based Griffin Industries LLC.

The company has 15 business days to comply, contest the findings, or request a conference with the safety agency.
