BX Solutions sets up trucking service

Updated, with revised employment figures.

BX Solutions, the logistics management company that established a trucking hub at the former Burlington Air Express facility at Toledo Express Airport in late 2011 after BAX Global left, has established a “time-definite” trucking service connecting 31 Midwestern and Southeastern markets through hubs in Toledo, Chicago, and Atlanta.

The company and the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority announced Wednesday that service started this week, and said BX will expand the service nationwide within the next several months.

“As we begin our second year of operations as a company, we are very excited to offer this new service to these markets,” Chris Marshall, BX’s chief executive officer, said. “We’ve been strategically planning these routes for a year and we are proud to watch them come to fruition.”

Paul Toth, the port authority’s president and chief executive officer, said BX has a lot to be optimistic about this year. “The trucking network will also support future growth opportunities in the air cargo and domestic intermodal container industries. This is a step in the right direction.”

According to the statement, BX employs 250 at the Toledo hub. It had another 500 temporary employees during the holiday season late last year.  The firm did not say whether employment would grow from the expansion.
