The Gap and GapKids stores at Westfield Franklin Park closed over the weekend.

Gap Inc. has been struggling nationwide and said in 2011 that it would close 20 percent of its U.S. stores by the end of 2013.

Julie Heigel, the marketing director at Westfield Franklin Park, said the closings were not a reflection of the local stores' sales and that the mall has a waiting list of prospects to fill the two vacant storefronts.

The Gap still has a Gap, GapKids, and babyGap at the Shops at Fallen Timbers in Maumee.
