Toledo-area unemployment rates down in July

City, county both drop 0.1 percent

Unemployment rates in Toledo and Lucas County were down in July, according to estimates from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

The state said Toledo's rate dropped to 9.2 percent in July from 9.3 percent in June. The rate is unchanged from a year ago.

Lucas County's rate also dropped a tenth of a percentage point in July to 8.5 percent. The county rate is slightly higher than the same month last year when the rate was 8.4 percent.

The unemployment rates for counties and cities are not seasonally adjusted, so state officials caution against drawing too much the month-to-month data.

The statewide rate, announced Friday, was 7.2 percent in July. It was unchanged from June.
