Unemployment rates were down in Toledo and Lucas County in July, but rates across the rest of the region were mixed, state officials said Tuesday.

According to estimates from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the unemployment rate in Toledo was 9.2 percent in July, down from 9.3 percent in June. The rate is unchanged from a year ago.

Lucas County’s rate also dropped a tenth of a percentage point in July to 8.5 percent. The county rate is slightly higher than the same month last year when the rate was 8.4 percent.

Wood County’s rate also improved in July, falling to 7.3 percent from 7.5 percent in June and 7.5 percent in July, 2012.

The July unemployment rate held steady in Ottawa County at 8 percent. In July, 2012, Ottawa County's rate was 8.2 percent.

The rate went up slightly in Fulton County, rising from 7.9 percent in June to 8.2 percent in July. In July, 2012, Fulton County’s rate was 8 percent.

The unemployment rates for counties and cities are not seasonally adjusted, so state officials caution against drawing too much from the month-to-month data.

The statewide rate, which was announced Friday, was 7.2 percent in July. It was unchanged from June.
