A.A. Boos, Rudolph/Libbe honored for regional projects

    PRO-TEC Coating Co. used Rudolph/Libbe Cos., based in Walbridge, Ohio, as its design/build contractor for its continuous annealing line facility in Leipsic, Ohio. GEM Inc., one of Rudolph/-Libbe’s companies, erected the steel and performed the plumbing, mechanical, and electrical work. The award was Rudolph/Libbe Cos. 10th Build Ohio award.

    Two local companies have been honored with prestigious 2013 Build Ohio Awards, presented recently by the Associated General Contractors of Ohio.

    A.A. Boos & Sons of Oregon was honored for its work on Cedar Point’s Gatekeeper roller coaster, which was completed earlier this year.

    A.A. Boos & Sons was honored in the “Specialty Under $7 million” category.

    “We thank our partner, Cedar Fair, for being such a wonderful partner and for demanding that all components of this project be built in Ohio, by Ohioans,” said Scott Hayes, vice president of A.A. Boos & Sons. “It was a complicated and challenging job that our talented work force embraced. They approached this endeavor with creativity and flexibility, and most importantly, performed this job safely.”

    Rudolph/​Libbe Inc. and GEM Inc., of the Walbridge-based Rudolph/​Libbe Cos., were honored for their work on PRO-TEC Coating Co.’s continuous annealing line facility in Leipsic. The local companies won in the category of new construction over $30 million.

    Rudolph/​Libbe Inc. served as design/​build contractor for the PRO-TEC project. GEM Inc., one of the Rudolph/​Libbe Cos., performed steel erection, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical work.

    “We’re pleased to receive this recognition for our work on the PRO-TEC project,” said Tim Alter, president of Rudolph/​Libbe Inc. “We had a great client in Pro-Tec, a company known for its high standards. ... We thank them for partnering with us on this important project, and for their steadfast commitment to safety, communication, and quality.

    The $400 million project added 462,000 square feet to the facility. The continuous annealing line can process especially lightweight, workable steel that retains superior strength.

    It was the 10th Build Ohio award for Rudolph/​Libbe.

    The Associated General Contractors of Ohio hosts Build Ohio annually to celebrate the commercial construction industry and recognize contractors for excellence in construction. A panel of retired construction professionals selects the winners based on following criteria: excellence in client service, meeting the challenge of a difficult job, excellence in project management, and innovations in construction techniques and materials.

    The awards were presented in Columbus on Nov. 15.
