Bankruptcy filings fall 23% from February ’13
3/3/2014Monthly filings in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Toledo fell 23 percent in February compared to the same month a year ago, according to monthly statistics provided by the court’s clerk.
There were 319 cases filed during the month, compared to 417 filed in February, 2013. The Toledo court covers 21 counties in northwest Ohio. There were 257 cases filed in January.
Overall for the year there have been 576 cases filed, down 23 percent from the year earlier period. Chapter 7 liquidation cases filed in February totaled 293, a decrease of 23 percent from a year ago, while Chapter 13 repayment cases totaled 26 filed, a decrease of 16 percent from a year ago.
