The Catholic Diocese of Toledo will close two parochial schools in the city in June, according to a letter that has been sent home with children from those schools.

The closings of St. Charles and Pope John Paul II schools were recommended by the board of directors of Central City Ministries, which manages the schools, to Bishop Leonard Blair, who approved them, according to the letter signed by diocesan schools superintendent Jack Altenburger.

The schools offer instruction in kindergarten through eighth grade.

Two remaining schools managed by Central City Ministries will remain open and serve as one school with two campuses, according to the letter.
