MONROE — Monroe County Community College today will participate in the National Roll Call Project, honoring U.S. servicemen and women during simultaneous ceremonies at colleges and universities across the nation.

Campus and community volunteers will read names of the fallen; participating campuses have organized their own ceremonies to recognize those who have served, are serving, or have died in service to the nation.

At 12:30 p.m. in the Warrick Student Services/Administration Building dining room, an MCCC Student Government representative will deliver a roll call of the 222 U.S. servicemembers from Michigan who have died in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

MCCC will then observe — along with participating colleges and universities nationwide — a minute of silence at 2 p.m.

The Remembrance Day National Roll Call is sponsored nationally by the Veterans Knowledge Community of NASPA Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, according to the Monroe County Community College.

NASPA is a 12,000-member association for the advancement, health, and sustainability of student affairs professionals.

MCCC’s participation in the Remembrance Day roll call is sponsored by the diversity committee.
