Bedford OK's contract with superintendent

6/20/2001

TEMPERANCE - The Bedford board of education yesterday unanimously approved a three-year contract with the district's superintendent that will pay him up to $115,500 next year, with the terms left open in the following two years.

James Goebel was hired earlier this month from the Melvindale-Northern Allen Park school district, in Detroit's downriver suburbs, to replace Dr. William Hall, whom the board demoted from the job in September.

Mr. Goebel assumes the post July 1, and under the terms of the agreement has the option to extend his stay in the job by at least one more year if he so desires.

The contract calls for a base salary of $108,500 and up to $7,000 in annual performance incentives.
