UT Foundation's executive director named to interim fund-raising post

8/3/2001

The executive director of the University of Toledo Foundation has been tapped to fill in as the university's top fund-raiser.

Brenda Lee will take a leave of absence from her foundation job to become interim vice president for institutional advancement, beginning Aug. 20, UT President Daniel Johnson announced yesterday.

She will replace Gregory C. Bobonich, who announced in June his intent to resign to pursue other career opportunities. He joined UT about a year ago after having been president of his own consulting firm, GCB Group, Gettysburg, Pa.

Ms. Lee, 40, of Toledo, said she didn't seek the job but is pleased to fill in and oversee UT's alumni relations and development offices. She has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Bowling Green State University.

She will be paid an annual salary of $125,000 as interim vice president, up from the $84,000 she received as executive director of the foundation. She has held that position since 1993.

Ms. Lee said the foundation has not named a replacement. It manages UT's investments and money it raises from alumni and friends.
