UT will wait until next week to cut provost hopefuls

The selection of semi-finalists for the position of provost at the University of Toledo has been delayed until next week.

The search committee met yesterday but delayed narrowing the remaining pool of 14 applicants because it received materials recently from two additional candidates, said William Decatur, co-chairman of the committee and UT's vice president of finance and administration.

Committee members will continue to gather information before meeting again Tuesday, he said. The university hopes to fill the position with a permanent replacement for Interim Provost William Free by January.

The two new candidates are Dr. Philip Quaglieri, dean of the college of management at the University of Massachusetts at Boston, and Dr. Anne Cairns Federlein, president of the Newark campus of Ohio State University and Central Ohio Technical College.
