The University of Findlay has received permission to offer a master's degree program in liberal studies.

The program, which will become the seventh master's program for the university, will start in January. Described as a "flexible and interdisciplinary program of study in the humanities, fine arts, and social studies," it will be directed by Dr. Marie Louden-Hanes, an associate professor of art at the university since 1986.

The Ohio Board of Regents approved the program at its meeting on Thursday.
